Hero Ingredients

Neem (Azadirachta indica)

Neem oil is pressed from the seeds of the neem tree and is a traditional Ayurvedic herb. Numerous studies have shown its pesticide and germicide properties which makes it an effective insect repellent.

Calendula  (Calendula officinalis)

Calendula infused oils can contain anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties which makes it an all amazing wound healer and all round soothing addition to this bug bar.

Beeswax

Our beeswax is sourced from Australia and is unrefined maintaining its powerful healing properties. Beeswax is rich in fatty acids and has been shown to possess antimicrobial activity and be effective for the treatment of atopic dermatitis and psoriasis with local application. It is excellent at helping keep moisture in the skin while Vitamin A gets to work to stimulate the production of new skin cells.

Babassu oil

Babassu oil is a skin emollient with anti-inflammatory properties and is what makes this bug bar melt so lusciously on your skin. It is packed with antioxidants like Vitamin E and phytosterols.

Citronella (Cymbopogon winterianus) essential oil

Unlike other pesticides like DEET which act to kill insects, citronella oil masks the scent that attracts mosquitos like carbon dioxide and lactic acid that we produce during normal metabolic processes. It is safe and non toxic to animals and humans and even the insects, they just don't like it - which is a win-win!

Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens) essential oil

Do to the presence of the chemical constituent citronellol, Geranium essential oil is effective at deterring those pesky mossies.

Lemongrass (Cymbopogon flexuosus) essential oil

Closely related to Citronella, Lemongrass has been shown to be an effective insect repellent due to the high levels of geraniol and citral present. In combination with other natural essential oils can offer mosquito protection for up to 6 hours per application.
